This year, Bowerbox Press will be at 2 great holiday shows.
First, on December 7th: Belvedere Square’s Holiday Market
A new show, this takes place along Belvedere Square between the Market and Shoo-fly Diner. It’s outdoors with heated tents, a variety of talented crafters, live music, and a visit from Santa! Show runs from 10am to 8pm.
Second, our favorite show: Holiday Heap on December 14!
Indoors at St John’s Church, 2640 St Paul Street, 10am-5pm, free
This year there is a new Early Bird Shopping Hour, if you want to beat the crowds a ticket will get you in an hour before free admission, with coffee, snacks and a tote full of swag. TIckets are available here until Dec. 6.
Hope to see you at the shows!
We’re back in full swing for the holidays- here is a peek at 2 new holiday cards, available at the upcoming Holiday Heap!
Holiday Swan, top, and Holiday Chickens- a portrait of my little flock!
Both will be available as single cards or sets at Holiday Heap, or email val(at)bowerbox.com for more information.
Storage Area, again.
It’s been a busy summer, and the barn has progressed from spider-infested half-finished storage area, to half-nicely-finished storage area while we put down the floor on the other half of the room. I’m very happy that it’s coming along quickly now, and is almost ready to fill with tons of type presses! (not looking forward to that move, though…)
Slowly but surely the shop is coming together. A few of the windows were either fixed to be openable, or sealed shut with caulk, and framed with decorative moulding. Plus, half of the floor is down. Due to the poor quality of the concrete (one corner is filled with leveling compound that scrapes off like dried mud, and the rest is still uneven) our best option was to put down underlayment plywood. It’s almost starting to look like a real room in there.
Step 1: Sand. (and sand, and sand, and sand, for hours.)
Step 2: Pre-stain conditioner.
Step 3: Stain:
Step 3.5: Take a break to make some pickles.
Step 4: First coat of satin polyurethane. Looks great, and should be sturdy enough for the equipment, yet not too precious to worry about getting scratched up.
